Litván–magyar szótár] Endrė Bojtaras Endre Bojtár Pursuant to the cooperation agreement between the Literature Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the Lithuanian Language Institute, the first Lietuvių–vengrų kalbų žodynas has been compiled in Budapest and printed in Vilnius as a joint publication by the two institutes. Prof. Endre Bojtár compiled this dictionary on the basis of the computer version of the Dabartinės lietuvių kalbos žodynas [Dictionary of Modern Lithuanian] (2003), supplementing it with more than a thousand computer science terms, vulgarisms, slang, and other expressions. So that this dictionary might be easier to use, Lithuanian words are accented, and a short Lithuanian grammar has been appended. This dictionary is important for Hungarian scholars and instructors interested in Baltic and Lithuanian language studies. It is useful for translators and students 2007, 984 p. Here, the author presents phraseologisms selected from a phraseological treasure house, expressions connected with the most often used names for parts of the body: the throat, leg, hand, heart, etc. These somatic expressions were collected by the author from the living language (various Lithuanian dialects), old writings, monuments of written Lithuanian, literary works, and the card file of the Lietuvių kalbos žodynas [Dictionary of the Lithuanian Language]. In the introduction to this publication, the author discusses the formation of somatic phraseologisms and the order in which they are presented. This publication is useful not only for researchers into phraseologisms but also for writers, translators, journalists, orators, students, and pupils – for everyone interested in beautiful Lithuanian 2008, 678 p. ISBN 978-9955-704-14-0 These three minimum Lithuanian-English vocabularies for a first/second/third qualifying category of knowledge of the official language are modeled after the Lithuanian-Russian vocabularies that have already been published. These vocabularies consist of words selected on the basis of frequency from Dažninis dabartinės rašomosios lietuvių kalbos žodynas [Frequency Dictionary of Modern Written Lithuanian] (1997, 1998), compiled by Laima Grumadienė and Vida Žilinskienė. As shown by linguastatistical research into various languages, the 1000–2000 most frequently used words usually comprise 70–80% of any text in any field or language. Thus, it is vital to know which words should be learned first so that such a large part of any text might be understood. These vocabularies were drawn up pursuant to the requirements for three categories of knowledge of the official language as defined by an act of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania (12-24-2003, No. 1688). The words most frequently used in the written language have been selected because the regulation of knowledge of Lithuanian is connected with its public use and not with the colloquial language. These vocabularies classify Lithuanian words with their English equivalents by part of speech. There are also English-Lithuanian indexes of these words. The introductions provide linguastatistical data about Lithuanian. The vocabulary for the first category contains about 900 words; for the second – 1250; and for the third – 2500. These vocabularies are intended to help the learner prepare for first, second, and third qualifying category examinations in knowledge of Lithuanian. They are intended to help those seeking Lithuanian citizenship, certification of their knowledge of Lithuanian, or government employment. These vocabularies should also prove useful for preparers of teaching materials VIETOVARDŽIŲ KIRČIAVIMO ŽODYNAS 1994 VIETOVARDŽIŲ ŽODYNAS 2002 ZANAVYKŲ ŠNEKTOS ŽODYNAS vol. 1-3 2002-2006 ZIETELOS ŠNEKTOS ŽODYNAS 1998
