The Hearth of Lithuanian Studies was founded in 2006. It is the only centre of its type in Lithuania. The Hearth of Lithuanian Studies is a structural unit at the Institute of the Lithuanian Language; its major goal is to provide the latest news about linguistics to the society in the most attractive and modern way, to raise the awareness of the society on the topical issues of language usage, increase the prestige of the Lithuanian language, motivate secondary school pupils for a career in linguistic research, promote Lithuanian as a partner in European multilingualism and inter-cultural dialogue.
Aims:
As part of the system of educating specialists, a series of seminars are organised for specialists of Lithuanian and other areas on terminology and topical issues of language use. The Club of Book Lovers (Knygių klubas) invites to attend exhibitions and presentations of new books, to celebrate birthdays of prominent linguists and other events. In the Club of Teacher Alumni academics and professors gather to share their memories and teach the younger generation language and linguistics and sometimes more than that wordly wisdom?
