According to Resolution No 926 of 15 July 2003 of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, the Institute of the Lithuanian Language and Vytautas Magnus University are authorised to conduct doctoral studies and confer Doctor’s degrees in the humanities and philology.

At present 23 postgraduate students are pursuing doctoral studies funded by the Institute of the Lithuanian Language.
